Our family-run wood studio is located in Ortisei, a small village in the Dolomites, which is a well known mountain range in the Northern part of Italy. In this region, called Val Gardena, the tradition of woodcarving dates back to the 16th century! This art has been passed on from father to son for many generations and still is the main industry of the valley. A handful of master artisans who work for us handcarve the statues using the same tools as 400 years ago: the chisel and the wooden hammer. We create original designs and work with our customers’ ideas. Bear in mind that we never carve the same statue twice, in order to grant you a unique piece of original art. Our values have not changed ever since. This is one of the reasons we are renowned worldwide for our amazing custom works.
We are true to our roots, our culture, our belief in humanity and god, with nothing but our hands to create art, for that is what we stand for and crave.

Art is nothing else than an appeal to mankind!
Our Atelier specializes in handcrafted carvings, including statues, reliefs and altars as well as paintings. Our main material is wood, but we also work with stone and marble. While a handful of famous artists from the valley do the carvings, my mother, Eva Perathoner, paints and meticulously polishes the statues with an agate stone. This particular procedure make the statues shiny and allows the colour to absorb into the wood ensuring the colour lasts longer, and it is a technique that is unique to our art pieces (other artists generally use varnish).
Our statues can be seen all over Europe, especially in churches in Germany, Hungary, Austria and Italy. We have been working with several churches in the United States too.

Oh, I can’t tell you how much I love and appreciate this kind of art. It resonates right down to my soul. I wish I could be in that artsy/creating environment all the time. I used to love spending time in the art room when I was in school.
