Station of the Cross

This is a relief custom woodcarving of the Station of the Cross using a more modern approach. The sculpture has been primed and then hand painted with natural colors and no varnish. We use an agate stone to polish the piece and make sure the color absorbs into the wood.

To celebrate National Aboriginal Day in Canada, which was yesterday, I wanted to share this stunning watercolor paintings by Canadian artist Kathleen Gallagher. The dark representations of a native woman and the naked unprotected body. Paintings that catch your eye and lure you into a world full of sadness that seems unreal but unfortunately isn’t. The use of soft and harder brush strokes gives the painting a unique expression that keeps you trapped.

To summarize it all in one abstract painting, this would be it. Lots of chaos, lots of loose heads, dark colors, some red spots and no overall direction of form and style. Anything else you would like to add?

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

With Summer around the corner and the sun shining bright again, it is time to get in touch with the ocean and cleanse our bodies from all the bad energies we may have gathered during Winter. Becoming one with the crystal clear waters, the wind and the sand. This double exposure artwork is trying to convey that.
