The gorgeous Bavaria statue in Munich!

This 19th century bronze statue is 18,5 meters high and is the personification of the Bavarian homeland with its strength and glory. The lion is obviously a symbol of defensive potential.

Fact of the day: The Oktoberfest was born today in 1810

To celebrate the marriage between prince Ludwig and princess Therese all citizens were invited on the meadows in front of the city. Even back then the menu of the day was beer and there probably wasn’t more than 6 million people…cheers to that!
