Just a little glimpse of the treasures to be found when visiting the Vatican. Obviously it is even better when you know someone that can take you to those spots a regular tourist wouldn’t have access to. Now, more than ever is probably the best time to visit….

The church was build over St.Peter’s grave. Apparently he was crucified head down on his own request because he thought he was unworthy to die in the same way Jesus did.

This jewel of Renaissance architecture designed by Bramante, Michelangelo, Maderno and Bernini is probably the most amazing church in the world. The artistic genius behind the sculptures, paintings inside and the architectural design is outstanding to say the least. Of such beauty that time seems to stop.

The oculus is the main source of light inside the Pantheon and they say that even during heavy rains not a single raindrop reaches the bottom. Sounds like some kind of miracle!
By taking a closer look at the floor though, you will notice a slight bending allowing the water to flow towards the walls where it eventually drains.
Sorry if I spoiled the mood, I wanted to believe in it so badly too! Yet there is still a lot of open questions on how they managed to build this majestic dome….
